Mm Tea.

I was able to attend the 3rd annual tea party hosted by the great Christa Keegan.
It. Was. Amazing.

I had the opportunity to hang out with this little gem today.
Love you, Antonular.

And a little child was (#) 50.

Strangers 49 & 50

This guy didn't once break eye contact with the space he was staring off into, and the baby wasn't much better. Making this shot quite easy to capture.

Happy 50th stranger, everyone! I'd like to thank you all for hanging on these last 8 years while I got around to finishing this project.

Next project:

I'm considering a 365. I think I need to jump-start my artistic tendencies after a recently completed (and terrible) photography class. I'd love to hear other ideas for projects, if you have any!

This lady = awesome. She's the owner of a little art gallery in Manitou and she had NO problem with me taking pictures all up in it. Unheard of! I managed to sneak this one of her while pretending to take a picture of a painting behind her. Thank you, kind lady, for your stupefying coolness. Please offer me a job.

This was taken over my shoulder while walking and holding the hand of my (sort of) nephew, Anton. Scorrrreee. Didn't want to miss documenting what could be the largest green-and-black pen in the history of the world.

Katie & Ted

Definitely the most fun I've ever had on an engagement shoot. Katie & Ted = coolest people ever.

Hm.

Read this in a textbook and loved it:

"Artists are important to us, among other reasons, because of their ability to express what is deep or hidden in our consciousness, what we cannot or will not express ourselves."

Go textbook. Am. I. Right.

I actually remembered my camera when I took a walk this morning:
Sighhh, beautiful spring.

Goodnight.

Long Looking

One of the first photo assignments: visit a place more than once to photograph it in different weather/times of day. Naturally, I chose a back alley downtown.

Blah.

This month has been turrrrible. Actually, the last two. No matter.

I have still been taking pictures, but almost exclusively for my photography class. Yes, I'm finally taking a photography class. It's about time, I know. It's sad though - the first month made me want to hang up my camera. Which is unfortunate, because 1. everyone knows that placing it carefully on a level surface is far better than hanging it, and 2. photography is about the only thing that cheers me up and makes me forget that I live alone in an unsafe environment in a state that I feel absolutely no connection to. So. You can imagine my relief when that passed. I got over my feeling of inadequacy...at least in this class, and now I love it. I love shooting with a 35mm again. I love processing my own film. I love dodging, burning, and watching a print appear before my darkroom-adjusted eyes. I've had to completely overhaul my patience level, however; I've gotten used to the (ugh) digital world, where everything can be seen and uploaded and printed within seconds. I spent 7 solid hours in the dark room a couple weeks ago. This thing that I love is (or started out to be) an art form in every aspect; from start to finish. I'm glad I have the opportunity to see and learn that before dark rooms are extinct.

I'm hoping to scan in some of my work from the class soon, but until then, I'll keep posting the photos I have left.
